NEW VICTORY ANNUAL CAMPAIGN

Your gift to the New Victory Annual Campaign is fully tax-deductible and will help make yet another season of dynamic New Victory programming possible for the 125,000 kids and adults who experience high quality, affordably priced theater, dance, puppetry, music, new vaudeville and circus arts at the New Vic each season. Annual Campaign donations also support the New Victory Theater Education Program and the New Vic/New 42 Youth Corps.

The New Victory has introduced over 1.2 million theatergoers of all ages to an eclectic blend of performing arts disciplines and world cultures since the beautifully restored New Victory Theater opened in December 1995 as New York City's first and only professional theater dedicated to young people and families. During this time, the New Vic has presented over 150 productions featuring cultures and countries from around the world, while encouraging the ongoing participation of a diverse, intergenerational audience through affordably priced tickets that average $18 and include $2 student admission to School Time and After-School Performances and signed performances for the deaf and hearing impaired. Frequent theatergoing is fostered by a Membership Program that enables patrons to save 30% when purchasing tickets to three or more shows. The New Victory also hosts a series of New Vic Studio: Family Workshops, post-performance artist Talk Backs and teen events to further enrich theatergoing for parents and children alike.

NEW VICTORY THEATER EDUCATION PROGRAM

The New Victory Theater Education Program is comprised of a comprehensive series of cultural, curricular and career initiatives that address the evolving needs of 39,000 pre-K-12 students and teachers annually. The program is predicated on students attending New Vic School Time and After-School Performances, where they experience some of the finest theater, dance, puppetry, music, new vaudeville and circus arts from across the globe, along with a chance to connect more intimately with artists through post-performance Talk Backs following each education show. At the same time, the program incorporates a standards-based curricular component – pre/post-show In-Classroom Workshops that align with the New York City Department of Education’s Blueprint for Teaching and Learning in the Arts for Theater and Dance. Schools wishing to participate in the broad scope of services can enroll in the New Vic School Partnership or After-School Partnership Programs and gain access to: School Time/After-School Performances at a cost of $2 per student; free pre/post-show In-Classroom Workshops led by New Vic staff and Teaching Artists to explore thematic elements from each program as they pertain to New York State Learning Standards; and semi-annual Teacher Institutes. In addition, all schools attending New Vic arts education performances receive free program-specific School Tool study guides prior to attending, which contain rich background on the works, along with standards-based classroom exercises.

New Vic/New 42 Youth Corps

The New Vic/New 42 Youth Corps is a longitudinal paid job training and employment program that endows over 85 high school and college-age youth annually with the fundamental skills, confidence and experience to succeed personally and professionally beyond our Theater’s nurturing environment. The program is comprised of two core initiatives – the New Vic Usher Corps and the New 42 Apprentice Program – that as a whole provide ever-widening avenues of opportunity for young people to grow in and through the arts. New Vic Ushers serve as primary Front-of-House staff at all New Vic public and School Time performances, and ancillary outreach events. New 42 Apprentices gain valuable insight into the administrative side of the performing arts industry by working part-time within the organization’s various administrative departments, located within the New 42nd Street Studios and New Victory Theater. Ushers and Apprentices also attend paid job training workshops and career-life skills seminars that augment what is learned through their everyday on-the-job responsibilities.
